Abstract
This paper presents a computational model and analysis of tapered roller bearing stiffness. A five degree of freedom model is coupled with a spindle model and implemented in a computer code. The predicted results are verified by other published data. The importance of proper modeling of the spindle and bearing interaction is identified. A sensitivity analysis of the bearing stiffness in terms of geometric and operational parameters is presented.
