Abstract
Challenges involving safety and supply chain bottlencks have spurred private companies and university research teams to find alternatives to the lithium-ion battery that powers electronics and automobiles. New chemistries and internal structures may enable engineers to develop products to take advantage of advanced capabilities offered by solid-state and sodium batteries.
